Sign UpCHICAGO (STMW) –Six people have been killed–not including a death from a murder-suicide–and at least 24 others have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening. A Chicago Police Officer and her husband, a Cook County Sheriff’s correctional officer, were found dead in their Southwest Side home Sunday in what appears to be a murder-suicide, authorities said. The correctional officer apparently shot his wife before shooting himself, said Cook County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cara Smith. The two – both 50 – were found unresponsive at 5:08 a.m. at their residence in the 5300 block of South Austin Avenue, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the fatalities but would not immediately release additional information. About 10:38 a.m. Saturday, police discovered two teens who were shot and killed on the South Side. The bodies were found inside an apartment in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue, police said. An 18-year-old man and 16-year-old Jordan Means, who lived less than a block away, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds about 9:30 a.m. in an alley in the 2900 block of West Flournoy Street, police said. Darren Ray, who lived less than a block away from where he was shot, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. About 2:30 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the West Town neighborhood. Two vehicles had been involved in a southbound chase on Ashland Avenue, police said. The vehicle driven by Nicholas Ramirez eventually hit two other vehicles in the 1600 block of West Hubbard Street before crashing into a concrete median, authorities said. At least one suspect then fired into the crashed vehicle before driving away eastbound on Hubbard, police said. Ramirez was found with gunshot wounds to the head and leg, authorities said. Ramirez, of the 3900 block of South Rockwell Street, was dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said. Earlier, a man was shot to death Friday night in Austin. The 20-year-old man was standing in a gangway in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway about 11:15 p.m. when someone shot him in the head, police said. Trevolus Pickett, of the 8300 block of South Dorchester Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m., authorities said. The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred about 9 a.m. Sunday in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side. Two men, 27 and 30, were shot in the back in the 8300 block of South Ada Street, police said. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said. Two more men were shot about 2:40 a.m. Sunday in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side. Two men, 29 and 39, were standing in a courtyard in the 1000 block of East 132nd Street when they were shot, police said. The 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left thigh and the other man was shot in the buttocks, police said. They were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they were both listed in “stable” condition. Police said the men were not cooperative, and that one of the men is affiliated with a gang. About 10 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The 34-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk with another man in the 2700 block of South Kildare Avenue about 2:30 a.m., when the two were approached by two male offenders with a baseball bat, police said. The men with the bat began striking the two men on the sidewalk, before one of them fired a shot and struck the victim, Alfaro said. The 34-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai hospital in “stable” condition with a gunshot wound to the left thigh, Alfaro said. The man with him — whose age was not immediately known — was also taken to Sinai in “stable” condition with injuries from the incident. About an hour earlier, a 25-year-old man was injured in a South Lawndale neighborhood drive-by shooting on the Southwest Side. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of South Hamlin Avenue about 1:30 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV drove by and someone inside the vehicle fired shots, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in “stable” condition. About 10 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot several times in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side. The man was standing on the sidewalk with a group of males in the 7200 block of South Perry Avenue about 10 p.m., when they were involved in an argument with another group of males across the street and someone opened fire, police said. He suffered gunshot wounds to the face area, abdomen and left forearm, and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. The man is a documented gang member, and the shooting is thought to have been gang-related, police said. A 16-year-old boy was shot about 30 minutes earlier in the South Shore neighborhood. The boy was driving westbound in the 7600 block of South Dorchester Avenue about 9:30 p.m. when a male on the sidewalk fired shots in his direction, police said. He then drove himself to Advocate Trinity Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper back, police said. He was listed in serious condition. About 7:15 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in an alley in the 5900 block of South Maplewood Avenue, police said. He was shot in his back right shoulder and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in “stable” condition. About 5:25 p.m., another 16-year-old boy was shot in the right leg, abdomen and back in the 1700 block of West 85th Street. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said. Less than an hour earlier, a 20-year-old man was seriously wounded in a Roseland neighborhood shooting. The man was shot in the shoulder in the 0-100 block of West 112th Street, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition.Earlier Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the stomach in Englewood. The man was shot at 2:40 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Halsted Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. About 1 p.m. Saturday, two men were shot in the 6600 block of South Maryland Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. One man, 23, suffered a gunshot wound to the back. The other, 21, was shot in the leg, police said. Both were taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital. About two hours earlier, a man was shot on the North Side in the Edgewater neighborhood. The 46-year-old was shot about 11:35 a.m. while sitting in a vehicle in the 1700 block of West Rosehill Drive, police said. The man was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. About 5:15 a.m. Saturday, a 30-year-old woman driving a minivan in the 1700 block of North Kimball Avenue was trying to elude a two-door car from which someone was firing shots at the minivan, police said. She suffered a graze wound to her head before seeking refuge at the Shakespeare District police station, 2150 N. California Ave., police said. About 1:15 a.m., a man was hurt in a gang-related shooting in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The 22-year-old man was walking in the 2800 block of North Kostner Avenue when he was confronted by a group of males who started yelling gang slogans at him and chased him down the block, firing a bullet that grazed the man’s head, police said. He declined medical attention when officers arrived. About an hour earlier, two men were shot in the West Town neighborhood. The men, 23 and 25, were standing on a sidewalk in the 600 block of North Racine Avenue about 12:20 a.m. when a dark-colored van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. The 23-year-old was shot in the thigh and the 25-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital in “stable” condition. Just before 10:30 p.m. Friday, a man was shot while sitting in a parked van in the 600 block of North Laramie Avenue. Three people walked up and started firing shots, hitting the 55-year-old man in his leg, police said. He took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition. About 15 minutes earlier, a man was shot and critically wounded in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The man, 40, was shot in the leg in the 9200 block of South May Street and taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said. About an hour earlier, two teens were shot in the Englewood neighborhood. The boys, both 16, were standing with a group on the corner near West 76th and South May streets when someone opened fire from across the street, police said. One boy was shot in the left foot, and the other was shot in the right thigh and left knee. They were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center and Christ Medical Center, both in good condition, police said. The weekend’s first shooting occurred Friday evening in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side. A 20-year-old man was shot in the shin at 7:35 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Mango Street, police said. He was treated and later released from Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, police said. Area detectives are investigating the shootings.
